To apply to our program please go to the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) site. General minimum requirements for interview consideration in surgery are the following: Must have completed and passed, with a minimum score of 210, the USMLE step I and II (or COMLEX equivalent) Must have a minimum of 3 letters of recommendation, with 1 letter from the current surgery chairman Must have a high pass or honors grade on both surgery and internal medicine 3rd year core clerkships The selection process begins with submission of the usual credentials for fourth year medical students through ERAS. Applicants are invited to undergo the interview process, preceded by an informal gathering with current residents the evening before the interview day. The interview day begins with the weekly grand rounds, followed by a group session with the chair to review the overall design, goals and objectives of the residency program. Applicants will be taken on a tour of the main campus facilities including the simulation center. Four faculty interview each applicant. These reviews are then entered into a computer database and ranked by objective assessment scoring. At the completion of this process, the faculty meet to review the evaluations and develop the final rank order.
