The division of general and gastrointestinal surgery in the department of surgery at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville treats a wide variety of surgical conditions. Our faculty are experts in general surgery and have additional training in specific areas of GI surgery. They are recognized nationally and have trained at leading institutions across the country. Our faculty and staff are committed to providing excellent and compassionate care to everyone we touch.

Education
University of Florida is one of the premiere educational institutions in the country. The faculty in the division are an integral part of training the next generation of surgeons. They provide training to general surgery residents and gastrointestinal surgery fellows.
Research
The division is conducting innovative research to advance patient care. The division is supported by several research faculty and staff in these endeavors. The research is focused on incorporating AI into healthcare, improving outcomes of patients with hernias and studying genetic factors affecting effectiveness of medications in GERD patients.
